Castara Inn is situated in the village of Castara which is located on the Leeward Coast of Tobago. Our guest house is nestled in tranquility. With ocean view rooms where manta rays and other fishes are visible right from your private balcony, or, you can take a walk on our meticulously laid stone pathway to our private beach and swim up close with the manta rays, (a truly magical experience).
Our goal is to provide you with luxurious clean accommodation, safety and to ensure a long term friendship with our guests. We ensure our staff is well trained as your comfort and satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
Our guest accommodations consists' of 2/2 bedroom executive villa apartment suites and 4/1 bedroom deluxe studio suites, all of which are self contained/self catering suites.
The suites are meticulously designed with an open plan concept, all with large spa like wet-rooms/bathrooms, the decor offers a mixture of modern elements with various rustic accents, thus creating a warm homely, very clean and spacious atmosphere for all our guests to enjoy.
Our friendly professional, knowledgeable staff are always eager to assist you with any and every possible requirement you may have, including transportation/chaperone services to various points of interest, grocery delivery service, laundry service, a massage therapist or even a personal chef to grill for your lunch or dinner.
Lobsters, premium steaks or freshly caught seafood, can be grilled on your private ocean view balcony, or our ocean view courtyard garden or on our remote private beach/bay just below. This can all be arranged by us upon request, at short notice.
Each apartment has an outdoor balcony which overlooks our beautiful mature mango tree field, as well as a beautifully manicured courtyard style garden, that gradually flows into the rain forest. You can enjoy the beautiful mixed blues of The Caribbean Sea, literally just a stones throw below. Directly from your balcony our guests can enjoy many colourful species of land birds, sea birds and many other wildlife. The magnificent splendour and spectacles of nature are always on display.
Relax in a hammock under the shade of the mango trees, while you watch the dancing breezes create various beautiful patterns of ocean currents on the surface of the Turquoise blue sea. At our amazing location, you can lay out, star gazing at night, whilst cool Caribbean breezes gently flow over you, a truly magical feeling.
The stars seem to be so much closer here, maybe it's because we're only 11 degrees north of the equator, it just feels like you can reach out and touch them. It's not at all uncommon to see Dolphins, whales, manta rays or large shoals of fish from your balcony, you'll observe large dark areas of baitfish being chased by the bigger the fish.
Then often, to add to the excitement, you can see the local fishermen using the age old traditional system of seine fishing, which is essentially casting a large net that encircles all the fish. This then becomes a group effort that involves villagers and tourists alike, everyone is welcome to help 'pull in' the catch for a share of the spoils. Everyone who helped to pull in the net is entitled to a share, depending on the size of the catch (which is often very large), one can have fish to eat for quite sometime, at no cost other than your participation. It's really a community activity that is deeply rooted into the traditional fabric of the daily village lifestyle of the Castara people and a welcomed treat for the many tourists who regularly join in the unforgettable experience.
