Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Location was excellent as a pit stop for exploring the Lake District. The property is only a few minutes drive from Keswick and Whinlatter forest. It's important to note that this property is on the very edge of a main road- this was mentioned by previous guests but it didn't sink in until we arrived - it really is on the edge of a busy junction with no pavement and no place to park. I would not recommend if travelling with children, we had to be constantly on our guard when entering and exiting the property. It was a nice location and i think in it's time, would have been a beautiful mill conversion but we won't be back. If i was the owner of the property and it was managed by an external company that supervised cleaning, upkeep etc then i would questioning their service.

Negative: The house itself is interesting, a converted mill into a two story house however it is becoming dated. The original conversion must have been gorgeous. The mattresses are spring and have seen better days and the showers - although hot- have very little pressure. There were a few things that would make this holiday house more welcoming and hopefully the host/ company might see this review and make some easy changes. Firstly, if you are older than a three year old, bring your own towels. The towels supplied were only slightly larger than a hand towel, old and bleach stained - a disaster when you are six foot tall. There are no amenities at the property. You will need to bring you own bin bags, toilet roll, fairy liquid, salt, oil etc. It's commented that there a wooden burning stoves - which there are- but no wood supplied in either the house or the wood store. There is also no barbecue despite this being advertised. We had to rewire the TV to get basic satellite -it technically is a smart TV in that chromecast would work but don't expect more than simple channels otherwise. The kitchen is a good size however there is an abundance of crockery/pots/pans/bowls etc and nowhere to store any food. At least half of the items in the kitchen could be removed to make some space for guests. The fridge and cupboards were not clean on arrival and the freezer is in desperate need of a defrost. There is an instruction book for information however despite three adults searching, we were unable to find the main plug to turn it off to defrost it ourselves. I note that other guests have commented on the kitchen issues before. The livingroom is nice but again it wasnt clean on arrival - popcorn packets underneath the sofa etc. Upstairs is lovely with a nice overhanging mezzanine and the bedrooms are nice other than the mattresses. There are motion sensor lights in the hall and the rooms which are a nice touch.

Summary: Beautiful conversion but multiple small changes are needed.
