Summary: The Gran Hotel was my 1st and last stop during my Costa Rica trip. On my very 1st night, I arrived around 8pm completely jet lagged and did not really have the chance to enjoy the place as I left the following day in the morning. This said, the lady T the reception was kind enough to include breakfast for me as the room was booked with my husband’s reward program and there were some issues with the settlement of the remaining balance - and that was much appreciated. For my stay at the end of my trip, things were different: for starters, I left my passport in my room in another hotel, and the reception was kind enough to hold it in escrow and gave it back to me when I checked in. The location is spot on, as the hotels is really walking distance from most of the highlights in San Jose. The valet service was also excellent. And FYI, all prices do not include all local taxes, and it is not always specified.
