Komodo Resort is located on Sebayur Island bordering Komodo National Park, an hour’s boat ride from the Komodo Dragon Tour on Rinca Island. Surrounded by the sea, the resort features a private beach area and on-site diving and snorkeling opportunities. Komodo Resort is a 1.5-hour boat ride to Labuan Bajo Harbor, and a further 10-minute drive to Komodo Airport. Pink Komodo Beach, which overlooks a stunning Indonesian reef, is a 1.5-hour boat ride away. Rooms have direct beach access and offer a private terrace with sea views. Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The property is in a great location within Komodo National Park, and had a great snorkeling spot directly off the jetty - one that is a destination for other travelers to come to. Transfer times to Padar and Komodo are between 30-60 mins, which we thought would give us a head start on the crowds, but the truth is, at Padar anyway, the tour groups from the liveaboard trips start at 6am so you can’t get there while it’s quiet. Our guide Daniel on 2 private charters was superb, guiding us to see Manta rays, turtle, and incredible snorkeling spots.

Negative: The management was lacking in clarity. We had a big issue with our first trip which resulted in a big delay in our trip, and initially management were very unsympathetic to our position. It was eventually resolved to our satisfaction but took 48 hours and a call to the mainland. The staff also appeared to be somewhat fearful of a European couple whose role at the hotel we continually enquirer about but were not given a clear answer on - either the staff were instructed not to say (why would this be the case?) or they genuinely didn’t know why they were there or what they did. Either way it doesn’t reflect well on the management of the hotel. Finally we left after 3 days and on the morning of our departure my wife and I were afflicted with an awful stomach illness which lasted for 4 days. The fact our kids did not get sick suggests this was not viral but more likely the result of contaminated food.
