Located 50 miles east of Asheville and 80 miles west of Charlotte, Lake James is a 6800+acre lake nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain. Go swimming and kayaking or enjoy a quiet picnic on the private dock. Rent a boat, water ski or fish in the lake's cool mountain waters, or take a hike through one of the many trails in the nearby Lake James State Park. Avid golfers can check out the local Marion Lake Club Golf Course, a beautiful public golf course with lake views and an active railroad running through it! Enjoy nearby mountain activities such as gem mining, hiking, white water rafting, ziplining, and mountain biking, outlet shopping. Day trips abound with plenty of excursions to choose from: the Biltmore Estate in Asheville with shops and a winery, Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, Linville Falls and Caverns, and Grandfather Mountain.
