Positive: The owners and staff were lovely, generous and welcoming. English is more limited but they all speak French. The food was delicious, we had simple, tasty fresh pasta dishes with wine and gorgeous desserts. The location is convenient. The surroundings are utterly charming and we had great hot showers - essential for staying in the winter. A Riad is obviously perfectly designed for visitors staying in warmer weather, in winter there is a log fire in the dining room but no other heating. Spare duvets were provided.

Negative: The booking.com entry isn’t entirely accurate which could better manage the expectations of international visitors. This is a Riad with 6 rooms and is also a family home and local bar/cafe. There isn’t a spa/wellness centre and we couldn’t get wifi in our rooms. Not all the lights in my room worked. Our rooms opened onto the terrace where locals may meet in the evening. The 16th century building is utterly charming and tucked away down an alley way or footpath, you can’t drive up to it or park outside. We didn’t have room keys and my room didn’t have a safe. Everything was very relaxed, dogs and cats can wander about.

Summary: A completely charming historical oasis. Think relaxed and unique Moroccan experience rather than high-end luxury.
