Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Harris is a beautiful area, we didn’t spend much time in the property. Hosts left a fabulous welcome pack which was appreciated. The property is quirky and compact. Parking space right at the side of the cottage.

Negative: Very little space to manoeuvre getting into bed at night, the 2 bedrooms are in the eaves. I should have considered this more before booking. We had to bend and crouch to crawl in. Heads were bumped doing this, more than once. Bathroom is downstairs, just off the kitchen. It’s very small and was like getting changed in a swimming baths cubicle. The extractor fan didn’t work in the bathroom, which meant having the window open constantly. Not great. Left everything damp. No blind in the bathroom. Kitchen also without an extractor fan. Again,moisture and condensation throughout due to I think lack of ventilation and the age of the property. The stairs aren’t carpeted and are painted, making them quite slippy, I have the bruises to prove it. There was a sports centre right opposite and the floodlights were on constantly during the whole night for the duration of our stay, shining directly into the bedroom. The bedroom blind had black mould on it , as did the corners of the bedroom window . I think this could probably be sorted with decent ventilation and a dehumidifier.
