Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Located about 300m off the main road, this is a really peaceful location. Wake up to no other sound than the birds singing. The cottage has a spacious kitchen, dining and sitting room, decorated with imagination on an Irish theme – a really pleasant space to be in. The bedrooms are light and airy, with comfortable beds and the shower room has plenty of space too. St Tassach’s church is just down the road. The National Trust’s Castle Ward only three miles away and the nature reserve at Castle Espie a half hour drive. The ferry takes one over to the east side of the lough and onto a scenic journey to visit the National Trust’s Mount Stewart. Thank you Sarah and Alan for being such welcoming hosts.

Negative: The kitchen needs some additional items i.e. tea pot and cafetière, cheese grater and more cooking utensils.

Summary: A delightful and tranquil base to explore the wildlife and history offered by Strangford Lough.
