Positive: Laura and Angelo are fantastic hosts and helped to make our holiday so special. The villa feels like a little slice of Sicily and we loved all the personal touches. The garden and pool area are clearly a labour of love and we enjoyed getting to know our hosts. They popped by each day but were always very respectful of our space. Neither of us shared the others' language but their son, Salvo, answered all our queries via text very quickly (it was also nice meeting Cristiano). The fridge and cupboard were well stocked, a real bonus given our late arrival. Great location. Now home, we are missing our view of Etna. A few tips: Taormina is a must. See the amphitheatre and streets by day but also wonderful at night. Great restaurants. We found parking best at Porta Canatia by day and Lumbi parking at night (steps here but more spaces here at night when the village gets busy). Syracuse is also worth the road trip. Lots of romantic little streets, restaurants, shops and a castle to visit. Etna is a must. We drove to the cable car and took that to where a shuttle bus takes you to the top. However, even in August it was cold, so a fleece is a must. Hearing Etna boom from the villa was incredible. A boat ride and snorkelling from Naxos was great fun. For beaches we drove to , Marina Di Cottone, a lovely pebble beach only 15 minutes drive away. We went to the free parts but there are lots of lidos with sunbeds to hire. Naxos is about 25 minutes away and busier but the beach is sandy. Google parking before you go. The restaurants at Naxos are amazing too - though to be fair everywhere we ate was fabulous.
Summary: A holiday to remember. Villa Laura is a little gem where you will find peace and tranquillity.
